There are three documents that I believe every American should read at least once as an adult. The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights. All three available for free!

Recently, my girlfriend and I visited Philly to check out if the Cheese Steaks met the expectations set from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Although the grease wasn’t on the bag when we ordered them, they were not bad for our break from seeing the sites.

I couldn’t help but be taken back by the gumption the colonists of America had as they wrote the declaration of Independence from the strongest military and empire in the world they knew at the time. Walking around the historical sites of those early days (Independence Park, the Liberty Bell, and more) reminded me just how far we’ve progressed from those historical periods.

Here we are as a nation (not without challenges) centuries later in the modern world, where technological innovations have led to more leisure time, world-wide communication in seconds, and so so much more.

At the same time, the library continues to offer the power of knowledge to those willing to venture into new books and I believe it is one of our civic duties to learn our true history on our journey to create a better future!

It’s like Hitch said on his first date with Sarah - “you can’t really know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been.” I present to you the links - enjoy!

Declaration of Independence

The Constitution

Bill of Rights

I added this into the mindset category. Why? When asked questions in life, the best source can be the original documents This mindset of diving into and making your own decisions is important for achieving!

Thanks for reading!
